What is Astrology, the Beginning

I think I came into this world knowing what astrology is. As a young age, I remember standing in the grocery lines with my grandma reading all the different little books about each sign. Luckily, she would buy my astrological sun sign for me, as she did read her horoscope and I think she believed in it; mostly, she was happy I was reading and expanding my knowledge. To this day, many newspapers and magazines carry an astrology column, giving us a peak at what our next week or month will look like. At one time, centuries ago, you were not consider educated if you had no knowledge of astrology. It was very important in our Age of Enlightenment, remember the Library Of Alexandria? But that is going to take us in a different direction, so I will stay on target as to not confuse you.

So what is Astrology? Astrology is the study of the movements, patterns, relationships and the relative positions of our celestial objects (Sun, moon and other planets), analyzing their movements through the signs of the zodiac for divining the events of the future, or the energy that is manifesting. It’s the saying “As above, so below”, it is the grand cosmic dance of synastry between each of us. It holds a promise that we do not have to pass through life blindly, as it gives us a blueprint that can help guide us through our own destiny, bringing us to a truer understanding of our self. Many astrologers have described it as a stairway leading to a better, deeper understanding of our Self, helping us better understand our tendencies, habits and why we are the way we are. We’ve all heard the saying “Know Thyself”, well this is one of the ways.

Is it a science? Astrology has been called the “Mother of all Sciences” but it is really categorized as metaphysical because it is a studying going beyond the physical. It is founded on ancient theories of energy, and it is the earliest known ordering of existence….long before recorded history. It is essentially a celestial clock influencing our Moments of Time. As we are apart of the Universe, we are a part of that celestial clock (our birth is that Moment of Time). To me, I believe it should be consider one, especially during this age of technology and the ever-evolving discoveries that Quantum Physics is experiencing. If, in fact, everything is energy how could it not be.

There are several different types of astrology, so there’s not really a unified theory or practice of astrology. The types of Astrology are ; Chinese, Vedic, Tibetan, and commonly used type (and what I use) Western Astrology. So all of my astrology readings will be coming from the Western Astrology form.

Many like to just look at their sun sign. The sun signs are divided into 12 sectors, starting at the Spring Equinox, this is known as the Tropical Zodiac and is based on the seasons. The Sun Signs ( also known as zodiac signs) are: Aries (March 21 – April 19), Taurus (April 20 – May 20), Gemini (May 21 – June 20), Cancer (June 21 –  July 22), Leo (July 23 – August 22), Virgo (August 23 – September 22), Libra (September 23 – October 22), Scorpio (October 23 – November 21), Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21), Capricorn (December 22 – January 19), Aquarius (January 20 – February 18), and Pisces (February 19 – March 20).

Each of these sectors have their own type of energy, and represent certain characteristics. The idea is that every happening to everything is expressed at the very beginning of that said thing. This is the Law of Beginnings.

As many of us like to read our horoscope every day, normally based on our sun sign, this only tells us a portion of the energy at work in our lives right now. I know many of you look up zodiac capability when you begin any kind of new relationship, but that just touches the surface as well. Honestly, looking at your what sign the planet Venus was in at the time of your birth would give you a better reading on relationships in your life. So how do you find that out?

The best way to get a full picture of yourself would be to get a Natal Chart (also known as the Law of Beginnings) done for you. For this you will need to know the follow:  Your full name, date of birth, time of birth, and location of birth.

This is but a glimpse into the vast abyss of Astrology. Astrology is a very deep subject, one that can keep you exploring the numerous facets of this ever-new and ever-evolving topic.

As  psychologist, Carl Jung, who, when asked if he “believed” in God responded, “No, I do not believe in God, I know God.  I do feel the same with Astrology, do dont believe in it, you have to learn how it works…Know It!
