Here in Savannah, GA, today is St. Patrick’s Day.  There will be mass, a parade and much partying.  Although for many, they are just celebrating their Irish heritage and that is completely understandable.  As many concentrate on this week being their biggest celebration time, they do not realize just what St Patrick was all about.  Luckily, we live in an age that information is right at our fingertips, unfortunately many take it for granted not learning truth behind those traditions we grew up on and where imprinted in our brains.  St Patrick is reported to have chased the snakes out of Ireland.  But what many do not realize there were no snakes in Ireland, not now nor then.  The “snakes” were actually Pagans, human beings that did not and would not convert to Christianity.  So the driving out part, well that was simply murdering thousands of men, women and children.  I’m not going to get on my soap box, but will take a higher path.  Today I am celebrating my Paganism.  Today I am happy to love Mother Earth, feel her energy and allow her heart beat within me.  I am grateful to be aware of the seasons, and see how that work within my life and affect everything around me.  I am grateful to know what balance is, and just how important it is to maintain.  So, happy Pagan Reemergence Day.  St Patty maybe have temporarily driven the “snakes” out of Ireland, but wow how they have multiplied world wide!
